But first, I need your help. You have to settle an argument between me and my husband regarding this recipe (has been going on for years...). Here is what the "argument" sounds like:
Me: It's a SALAD! The name is Cookie Salad.
Hubby: It's DESSERT! The name is Cookie Salad.
Me: It's got fruit in it. It's a kind of fruit salad.
Hubby: It has cookies, Cool Whip, and pudding - could it get any more dessert-like?
Me: Have you heard of Ambrosia? It's like that; you eat it as a side dish with your meal.
Hubby: Have you heard of Fudge Stripe Cookies? They're dessert. Cookies don't go with steak.

And on it goes...actually, I will eat it whenever - with the meal, after the meal, for breakfast, etc.
COOKIE SALAD
1 large can crushed pineapple
2 small cans mandarin oranges, drained
2 small boxes instant vanilla pudding
2 cups buttermilk
16 oz. Cool Whip
1 package Fudge Stripe Cookies, broken into 4-5 pieces each
Mix all ingredients together in large bowl and chill. This makes a huge batch, but you can easily cut the recipe in half (and then you have half a package of cookies left to eat!).
Tell me if you've had this before, or if you try it for the first time and what you think. And please leave a comment to tell me if you think it's a salad or a dessert! :)
Great Recipe... I am visiting your blog via a visit to Sarah Mae. I am making this cookie salad tonight.... Yummmmm
