Happy Labor Day!

Hope all of you are having a nice Labor Day! And if you are in the path of the storm, please stay safe!

In honor of Labor Day, that clever Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer has a meme going...about labor, the childbirth kind! You can answer the questions on your blog and link up to her.

Sounds like fun, so I'm joining in. Here are my answers:

How long were your labors?

Only kid - Well, if you count it from the start of contractions until birth, then it's 31+ hours! If you wanted to count from hospital admission until birth, then 15 hours (though I was in the hospital getting drugs for 4 hours before finally being admitted). He was 4 weeks early and they gave me drugs trying to stop or delay it, but he insisted on coming anyway!

How did you know you were in labor?

Start of contractions that wouldn't go away, got more painful, more regular, and closer together. And may I just mention that this occurred on the FIRST day of my 4 weeks leave "before" the birth(after working 50+ hours/week). Thanks for the time to physically and mentally prepare for my first baby, son.

Where did you deliver?

At the hospital, in my own private room that was for labor, delivery and post-delivery without me having to move anywhere.

Drugs?

Oh yeah. Tried one that did nothing, then decided to get an epidural when I realized that contractions were nowhere near peaking and I could. not. handle. it! My poor husband's hand couldn't handle it either!

C-section?

No.

Who delivered?

My doctor, who just happened to be on call. He was wonderful and so were all the nurses. A good friend of mine was a nurse there and was going to be with me, but since I was there 4 weeks early - she was out-of-town on vacation!

There you have it. How about you?

  1. I love that you got to labor, give birth and recover in the same room! I was able to do that at a birthing center, but never at the hospital.
