Woo-hoo - Works-For-Me Wednesday is back!
My husband found a recipe for shower cleaner about a year ago (he doesn't remember where). We love it! The daily shower sprays in the store are not cheap. This recipe is not only frugal (yay), but I think it works better than the sprays I have purchased from the store. It keeps mildew away and keeps the glass clear.
We mix it up in an empty spray bottle and my handy smart hubby made marks on the bottle to show how far to fill each ingredient (kind of like making dressing in the cruet - lol). Here it is:
2 cups distilled white vinegar
1/2 cup Jet Dry
1 teaspoon dish soap
If you like a scent, you could add a bit of an essential oil, but we don't bother. The vinegar smell goes away in a short time.
This shower cleaner works for us! For many more great tips, stop by Works-For-Me Wednesday at Rocks In My Dryer.
If you don't mind me asking, what exactly is Jet Dry. I've been looking for a good everyday shower cleaner and I'm wondering if I can get the equivalent in NI.
ReplyDeleteI am so going to have to try that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting Lisa.
Blessings.
But no water in this??? hummmm, sounds like something I could make and use. I like this really well. The vinegar smell does not bother me at all, but I do wonder about the teaspoon of dish soap, is it to help make it "stick" to the surface a little better?
ReplyDeletedo you have the recipe for making whites whiter? I used to know it, but just can not remember it any more. It was a soaking mixture of dish washer soap, bleach, and something else, I just can't remember....do you know what I am talking about? Any one out there no this concauction(sp?)???? thanks
That's an interesting combo. I read the back of one of those shower spray bottles and it had alcohol in it (which if you as me is strange, but it must work) I like the idea of vinegar much better. Thanks for the recipe
ReplyDeleteI've added Jet Dry to my next shopping list, and my shower thanks you!
ReplyDeleteThat's great that your hubby takes an interest in the household stuff. I'll have to write that one down and try it!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Sonya
Thanks for visiting my blog, and now I can see that we could get along quite well. I see that right here on the first page of your blog you have chocolate, and coffee, and a nifty-thrify not-so-caustic cleaning product! As well as cute kiddos and a love for Jesus--what could be better? (Except for the fact that we share the same first name! ha!) Blessings to you, thanks for sharing. ReplyDeleteI'm definitely going to try this. Just yesterday I was cleaning my shower thinking that there had to be something better than the Tilex I was using. I could feel my brain cells dying from the fumes.
ReplyDeleteWow, I would have never guessed jet dry! I'll have to try this ...
ReplyDeleteI will have to give this a try! Thanks for sharing it; I always have trouble with hard water spots :o
