Are you enjoying the start of Simmering Soup Week? Welcome back! Did you enter the giveaways yesterday? You still have until Sunday evening 1/18 to enter - don't forget! Thank you to those of you who are spreading the word about the soup - the more people that come by, the more this feels like a party! In case you missed out, take a look at:
Simmering Soup - Day 1
I still wanted to keep with my theme of tea on Tuesday - soup didn't stop me! When you have a full lunch tea, you are often served a small bowl of soup. I have served this soup at a tea. It would be lovely for a Spring or Summer tea.
"To soup - may it be seen and not heard."
Without further adieu, here is:
Strawberry Soup
Strawberry Soup
2 cups strawberries (I used thawed frozen berries for this batch)
1 cup buttermilk
1-3 tablespoons sugar (according to taste)
Puree and chill. I like to pour it into bowls and swirl a stream of buttermilk on the top.

Did you know it was that simple? There are many varieties of fruit soups. This one is particularly easy and I like the tangy flavor. You don't have to serve fruit soup at a tea though. You could serve a broth soup or a vegetable soup instead. On my other blog, I posted a soup recipe that would also be nice. You might want to click over there to look at:
Creamy Potato And Garlic Soup
That's all I have for today. You won't want to miss tomorrow - there will be 2 new soup recipes here and one more on my other blog. Mmmmm...can you smell it all simmering on the stove?
Thanks for coming by!

I so want to come over and have tea! You are so good my friend! That is so elegant! That recipe looks wonderful as well. Anything that says the words "creamy" and "garlic" are right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs!

I don't know about a strawberry soup, but I will remain open minded. But do you know what I love??? How you display your "product" or your "production" rather. Your blog just looks so elegant, and all that goes with it. Job very well done!
ReplyDeleteLooks yummy! And the place setting is beautiful. Thanks for sharing my friend! I hope you have a great day!
ReplyDeleteOMG! This is one of my favorite soups.... Anytime we go on a cruise I hope and pray they serve SS. Glad to have a recipe now! THANKS

ReplyDeleteOooo so pretty...Strawberry Soup...what a fun Valentine's Day soup!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Lisa I wanted to let you know that I linked to your blog today in my most recent post. Can't wait to see more soup recipes.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, We had strawberry soup on a cruise a couple of years ago and it was delicious! I've always wanted the recipe! So thanks! :) I'm making taco soup tonight! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI'll be back tomorrow with a few recipes! ~hugs, Rhonda :)
This is a great site! I'm wondering where you have been all my life. Any blog that is covered in chocolate has to be divinely inspired! I will be back!
ReplyDeleteHow fun is that?
ReplyDeleteStrawberry soup, eh? Wow, that's a unique on! I bet it's yummy though!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I'll ever venture into the realm of fruit soups, but it's always neat to see recipes and contemplate it. I never say never....
ReplyDeleteTo all of you who have not tried "fruit" soup, I was priviledged to be at the tea at which Lisa served this strawberry delight. It was great and refreshing. Just think of a smoothie in a bowl but not quite as frozen. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteOh how fun! Thank you so much for the Strawberry Soup recipe. I had Blueberry Soup on a cruise ship many years ago and then Strawberry Soup at a Mother/Daughter Tea. Every recipe in my search in the past was long and tedious and had orange juice and other sour things. I can't wait to go get the ingredients and slurp! Blessings, Shay
