Good morning! I love stopping by Like a Warm Cup of Coffee for motivation to start my week - you might want to stop by - she's having a giveaway too!
I keep trying to find the motivation to get up early to spend time alone reading the Bible and praying. I haven't been doing it as much as I need to! My hubby helped me get up early twice last week and I so appreciate that help - use your loved ones to help motivate you!
As I was reading my devotional Streams in the Desert today, I saw some words that further motivated me to keep on working at getting up early. It said:
"Earnestly desire to get alone with God. If we neglect to do so, we not only rob ourselves of a blessing but rob others as well, since we will have no blessing to pass on to them. It may mean that we do less outward, visible work, but the work we do will have more depth and power. Another wonderful result will be that people will see 'no one except Jesus' (Matt. 17:8) in our lives."
Wow! A powerful reminder of why it is so important to spend that time every day! Thank you Lord for giving me words I needed to hear!
Matthew 6:6 - "But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."
I hope (with the Lord's help) to spend more time alone with Him this week. How about you? Have you been finding that time?
Have a blessed and motivating Monday, friends!
Hi Lisa!
ReplyDeleteWhen you discover that secret for getting up consistently early, please pass it along, LOL. I'm having serious, serious problems with sleep at the moment... My husband keeps theorizing the hard mornings are as a result of late nights.
Pffft. I hate it when the man is right....LOL.
Cheers,
Lizzie

Being a wife to a man who has to leave for work early, I, being his wonderful wife, get up before him to get his lunched packed, make his coffee and breakfast so all he has to do is get up get dressed and walk out the door. Because he blesses me so much this is my way of blessing him ,so getting up an hour before he goes to work gives me plenty of time to spend time with the Lord and do everything else. That's my secret! LOL.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work my friend. You can do it!!
Big hugs!!!!
Often times I think we feel like we need others to see what we're doing, and that early morning quiet time will never be seen by anyone else, except the Lord. We make time for so many other things, knowing that the eyes will notice, but in the process, we are depriving ourselves of an awesome experience with our Lord and Savior!
ReplyDeleteI am no expert at waking early. Although the alarm rings at 5:15, the body doesn't always rise.
I will pray with you that we both are able to gain control of our bodies, knowing that something glorious awaits!
Oh we share the same desires and struggle this week! That was a wonderful quote. Thank you for that. I needed it. ((Hugs))
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time getting up too. I already get up at 5:30 most mornings to go work out with hubby at the gym, so earlier than that seems crazy to me, and by the time we get home the girlies are up! I'll get it figured out.
ReplyDeleteMy girls and I tried making molten lava cakes from pampered chef.....let's just say there was no lava (C: I cooked them a bit too long. We'll try again!!!
Thanks...I needed that. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat words my friend. I have a difficult time getting up early. But I do make time for quiet time. Some days are better than others. Thanks for the gentle reminder!
ReplyDeleteDo you want to know what really got me about this post?
ReplyDelete"we not only rob ourselves of a blessing but rob others as well"
I too often forget that spending alone time with God doesn't affect just me...but everyone I come in contact with. WOW. Thank you!
I have held onto the excuse of not being a morning person for too long! Thank you for that extra nudge! "It may mean that we do less outward, visible work, but the work we do will have more depth and power" That is exactly what I need. So I better get to sleep so tomorrow people may see "no one except Jesus" in my life!
ReplyDeleteI SOOOO needed this post this week! I came down sick two weeks ago, and I just can't seem to get back in my groove of getting up early.
ReplyDeleteYou've motivated me! I'll be setting the old alarm a little earlier tomorrow and hope to find my groove again this coming week.
Thanks so much!
I want to be alone with the Lord, but at the same time I'm still in kind of a weird post-preggo fog...
ReplyDeleteEverytime I sit down or think about sitting down with my bible, I just stop. Pray for me friend, I really just need to be in His presence!
