It's finally Chocolate Friday again!! Sorry I made you wait so long! Maybe you better have an extra piece of chocolate for the inconvenience. :)
I recently found this yummy recipe and am so glad I did! It's the perfect snack bread - great with coffee or tea - and would be nice for breakfast too! The recipe is from Best Recipes from American Country Inns and Bed & Breakfasts.
Chocolate Tea Bread
1/4 lb. (1 stick) butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/3 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream butter and gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour, cocoa, soda, salt, and cinnamon. Sift together. Stir flour mixture into egg mixture, blending well. Add vanilla. Stir in sour cream, walnuts, and chocolate morsels. Spoon batter into two greased and floured 7 1/2x3x2-inch loaf pans. Bake 55 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes, remove from pans, and cool completely on wire rack. Yields 2 loaves.

I know I didn't bake these loaves the full time. Whenever I try a new recipe, I bake 10-15 minutes less and keep checking at that point as each oven works a little differently.
Now, it's been a long time without chocolate link-ups. Please bring some chocolate to share today! Link up any old or new family-friendly chocolate post - many of you have great ones from the holidays! I'm trying to eat less chocolate, so the more virtual chocolate you bring me, the happier I'll be! :)
Have a lovely chocolate-covered Friday!!

ReplyDeleteBig for get the tea and call it chocolate coffee bread size hugs to you! LOL.
Have a fabulous day my friend.
Mmmmm - love chocolate bread. I'm trying to institute daily afternoon teas with my girls and this will be a lovely addition to our menu plan. =) Occasionally, of course...
ReplyDeleteI saved this cause it looks soooo yummy and I can't eat any right now! I'm going to try it in two weeks! Why two weeks? Cause I'm doing a cleanse right now and all I can have is lemonade. Which is great in the summer, but in the winter? When we're having record lows? Brrrr...but I decided to do it now when we don't have any birthdays coming up or parties to go to or anything like that. But then I come here and see all these yummy chocolate recipes! Aaiiieee...the torture!! Just kidding. I'm ok. (Maybe). Seriously, I will be better in two weeks when I can try this. I'll let you know how I loved it (and I'm sure I will).
ReplyDeleteI had some chocolate planned for today...unfortunately, sick child trumped it.
